It's the middle of June and winter is officially upon us. Not that it's ever truly winter in Durban, but that doesn't stop me from indulging in my winter favourites. Colourful socks, oversized jerseys, cake and coffee, and in this case...coffee cake. I'm sure I'm not the only one whose appetite suddenly becomes gargantuan during … Continue reading German Coffee Cake Squares
My first recipe of 2018 is for this vanilla sponge cake topped with fresh blueberries that I made whilst staying in a cottage in Underberg at a place called Lake Naverone. The first few days of our holiday were quite cold and wet so all I wanted was hot tea and a slice of cake.
Lemon Delicious Puddings are one of my favourite desserts. These sweet and lemony self-saucing puddings are perfect to serve as an impressive after dinner treat or even as part of an afternoon tea. The fresh tartness of the lemon makes these puddings perfect to serve as summer rolls around. I know it sounds weird, but the puddings actually taste yellow, they taste happy!
Anyone who knows me well knows that when I get stressed out, I bake. And so yesterday, the day before my first exam, the urge struck me and I suddenly just had to make these Choc Banana Muffins.

I felt like a kid again getting my hands gooey kneading the dough and spreading thick layers of sugary cinnamon butter. The best part was definitely rolling the dough up layer after layer.
This recipe has been on the back-burner for a while now and I'm so happy that I finally have a chance to share it with you. My inspiration for this dessert came to me as I was dreaming about my gran's apple crumble. I used to have this a lot when I was still in primary … Continue reading Homemade Apple Crisp Pie
I've been trying really hard to eat a little better this week and for me that basically means I've been trying to cut out as much refined sugar as I possibly can. However, I am only human and have a massive sweet tooth, so it comes as no surprise that on the very first day of trying to be healthy I found myself standing inside my pantry trying to figure out if I could make something chocolate.
Getting crunchies in my lunchbox as a kid was one of the great joys of my young life. I remember those two little squares of pure ecstasy, so carefully wrapped in wax paper by my mother, and the huge smile that would spread across my face when I discovered them in the snack compartment of … Continue reading The Best Chocolate Crunchies EVER.
Having cake for breakfast is generally frowned upon. However, this has never been an unusual occurrence for my family...
